May Fly 2007 - Florence, SC

Today was a fun day. I took an early morning run around base - about 3 miles. Then the boys and I packed up the car with a few necessities (a stroller, frozen bottles of water, sunscreen and directions to Florence Regional Airport).  We headed to Florence, SC for the May Fair Air Show. We had a great time, though we didn’t stay for the whole show - which I’ve heard runs about 3-4 hours!  We arrived at about 11:15. The air show started at 1p (I thought it started at noon but they had a car and tractor drive by - exciting I know).  Anyway, we stayed to watch a half dozen or so airplanes, stunts and parachutists. When Xavier kept pulling on me saying “Bye bye” and walking away I figured he’d had enough of the sun and heat so we headed out.  It was a lot of fun though - and free for military.  I’ve included a few pictures. One of the best parts had to be the fire engine that had a jet engine in it.  It zoomed down the runway at breakneck speed. It had fire coming out of the back.  It was great!

Derrick goes for an orthodontist appointment on Wednesday. Geno said to go ahead and get his braces started before 6th grade. That way by the time he reaches high school they will be ready to come off.  He seems a little excited about getting them. I did warn him that his moths going to hurt for a little while afterwards and we would have to spoil him on ice cream and jello - he didn’t complain.

Xavier has an appointment with the ENT doctor on June 13th.  There is a good chance he will need to get his adnoids and tonsils taken out.  I forgot the technical name for the condition but the pediatrician believes he has but it has to do with enlarged adnoids, sleep apneia and breathing constantly with his mouth open.  The pediatrician said this could also be one of the reasons he doesn’t sleep through the night all the time yet. He startles when he stops breathing and it causes him to wake up. That surgery will hopefully be planned for the second part of Geno’s R&R.

Other than that nothing more planned for this weekend. We might head to the pool tomorrow after church since they opened one about a mile from here.  We are lucky that both boys seem to like water.  Derrick loves the diving board and Xavier just likes to play, go under and splash.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend - and if you see a soldier thank them for their service.

Here’s a few pictures from today…

And a picture of Xavier and I - I had a couple requests saying I never put pictures of me on here - sorry it’s not the best but it’s 90 degrees here and silly me wore a dark tshirt!
