We have arrived!
I just wanted to write a quick update to let everyone know that we have arrived safely in Italy. It is quite beautiful here! I’ve added some picture that I took from the plane of the Alps. I didn’t realize they were sooooo big! I was thinking Appalachian Mountains - these were 10x bigger! I haven’t taken any other pictures since taking pictures on post isn’t allowed. I will try to walk to the back gate with Geno and the kids and get pictures of us with the Alps in the background.
We go tomorrow for our housing briefing and to sign the kids of at Child & Youth Services. Derrick starts school on Monday and Xavier has his 4 y/o Well Child Checkup. My next OB appointment is on the 20th and they will schedule my anatomical 20 week scan then.
For those that don’t know, we have already had a gender scan due to housing regulations here on post. I am proud to announce that we are having a little GIRL! We haven’t really been talking about names. We have a few set aside but I think we will be waiting until the baby is born to announce our final decision.
We have found out that Geno will be around for the birth of this baby. This makes me VERY happy! Also, this baby will be dual citizenship. Since the base is an Italian base that is rented by the US Government the baby will technically be born on Italian soil.
We have also found out that this base has a TON of things for the kids (and spouses) to do. I will be taking a 4 day tour of Vicenza and surrounding areas probably in June. I have also realized that there is a GREAT need to learn Italian, and soon. I feel like out of place when it’s hard to understand the nationals working on post, and they work EVERYWHERE!
Before I head off to bed I wanted to thank everyone that has shown nothing but support for Geno, the kids and I. It was great to everyone and we couldn’t have asked for anything better than seeing and even talking to the one’s that couldn’t make it to see us. We realize that moving overseas is a HUGE transition but this is a great opportunity not only for Geno, but the kids and I as well. I hope many of you are able to visit at some point during our 3 year tour here. Thank you again!
I will update more as things happen. Right now I am just extremely overwhelmed and I am taking it slowly.
The Alps from the plane - sorry there are spots; the plane window was quite dirty!
